Breakfast

Lying in my bath, I thought how much I would like to breakfast on toast and marmalade from Edwards in Crick, Northamptonshire. "Too far", I thought. Where is closer? So my mind then ranged to a full breakfast at the Brome Grange hotel on the A140 in north Suffolk but that too is too long a journey. So I end up drinking Guatemalan coffee with Phyllis' lime marmalade and the last two slices of white bread from a polythene bag (stored inside a traditional Suffolk bread crock!). I found it surprisingly pleasurable although coarse wholemeal bread would have been so much better. Now I must replace the white bread for my housemates.

Anyway, this lead me to think of favourite breakfasts, so here is my selection in addition to the others already mentioned:
  • Marriott full service English buffet
  • McDonalds McGriddle
  • Waffle House Country Ham, triple eggs (cheese scambled), hash browns (scattered, covered, and diced)
  • Denny's Lumberjack Slam
  • Kesgrave Kitchen Full Monty
Yum! Only eight hours until lunch.

Peter Callesen paper sculpture

Paper sculpture was a big enthusiasm of my youth. So much so that my teachers encouraged me to explore the possibilities of doing it professionally. Which is why sculptors like Peter Callesen so fascinate me.

John Browne leaves BP over gay relationship

After 41 years, John Browne has quit his job as CEO of BP three months early (costing himself over £15 million = US$30 million) because he briefly misrepresented how he met the Canadian man who was his lover for four years (when questioned about this while asking the court to prevent UK newspapers from revealing his sexuality).  As far as I can see, he has been punished for preferring not to make his sexuality public.

Here is a report on Yahoo.  Sigh...
